2022 ESSAY COMPETITION - SENIOR STUDENTS IN FIJI
Following the success of the annual writing competition in Fiji over the years, with continuous support from the Fiji Ministry of Education, the New Zealand High Commission, and the Fiji Association in Auckland announce the 2022 competition, the fifteenth annual competition offered jointly. The 2022 topic relates to climate change, specifically around several urgent issues facing many Pacific Island nations, such as the effect of rising seas faced by inhabitants, ocean acidification, and coral bleaching. Students in Years 11, 12, and 13 are asked to present their views by mentioning ways in which New Zealand and Fiji cooperate and could cooperate further on one of the above issues. Entries close on 18 August 2022 at the High Commission in Suva. Cash prizes and laptops are on offer. Thirty winners will be selected by the adjudicators, Lady June Hillary and Dr. Satendra Singh. Winning students and their parents will be invited to a Prize Giving Reception at the High Commission in Suva. All costs associated with bringing them to Suva will be met by the High Commission. Coordinating teachers will similarly be invited. Detailed packs have been distributed to all secondary schools in Fiji.
